LivingQuell post: Nancy Laracy & Quell
Nancy Laracy was a highly successful human resources executive living in New Jersey with her husband and two children and planning to grow her family when she fell seriously ill to an acute case of Parvovirus B-19 (also known as Fifth’s Disease). She was in and out of hospitals with debilitating symptoms, like chronic arthritic and muscle pain, as she and her doctors searched for answers. Her physicians continued to treat her symptoms and her condition with strong medications, but not to her satisfaction. Eventually, after trying every avenue presented to her, Nancy was left with chronic pain resulting from her sudden and rare illness, along with a fibromyalgia diagnosis. Searching for treatments for her “new normal” pain level, Nancy has made it her point to fight her pain in every possible way she can — which brought her to Quell.
Our team talked to Nancy about her experience with Quell, and how she’s used it in her pain management routine, along with another very special tool (that we’re really hopped up about). Here’s what she shared:
At the beginning of my relationship with Quell, I would wear it every day, hoping that it would act as my security blanket and ward off the looming pain. I still strap my Quell on usually 5 days a week, but now have every confidence that the relief is on it’s way.
Chronic pain affects your life in huge ways, but it is also the small day-to-day tasks that still need to get done that you take for granted the most. Standing long enough to wash the dishes, putting a load of laundry in the washing machine, leaning down to pick up a purse, turning your head to back the car out of the garage – all things that are not given any thought, feel almost impossible during peaks of pain. I’m a mother, and these aren’t things that I can just choose not to do. Since beginning to use the device, I’ve noticed that my back pain is less substantial, and at times non-existent. It takes away the stiffness that makes it hard to move the way I need to, making it easier to get back to those everyday tasks that are essential to keeping my home running. It has become indispensable to me as I continue to evolve my pain relief treatment.
Because she is determined to seek out pain relief options to fight against living in pain, Nancy’s treatment toolbox is large, and has everything you’d expect to find in it – strong prescription medications, drug free alternatives like Quell and even acupuncture – along with some tools that may not come to mind, like pet therapy from a very special rabbit.
Nancy’s full inspiring story can be found in her newly released book: Bunny Boy And Me, My Triumph Over Chronic Pain With The Help of The World’s Unluckiest, Luckiest Rabbit, which is available at Amazon, most book stores and at this link.
Disclaimer: Unpaid testimonial based on experience with Quell classic device. In a published study, 4 out of 5 people who tried Quell reported improvement in chronic pain. Results may vary.
