Men’s Health Week 2019
Today is the first day of National Men’s Health Week—with screenings, health education and outreach activities taking place across the entire country.
The month of June was established as National Men’s Health Month by Congress in 1994, and in the week leading up to and including Father’s Day, we celebrate National Men’s Health Week.
What is the purpose of Men’s Health Week?
The purpose of Men’s Health Week is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage the early detection and treatment of disease among boys and men, according to MensHealthMonth.org.1
Awareness gives health care providers, social influencers and individuals an opportunity to encourage boys and men to seek regular medical advice and early treatment for disease and injury.
If you are interested in getting involved, there are many ways to help bring attention to preventable health problems that men face to encourage healthy behavior, early detection, and treatment.
How does chronic pain impact Men’s health?
An estimated 50 million Americans are living with chronic pain.
Unfortunately, stigmas associated with chronic pain can prevent some men from seeking treatment according to an NCBI study.2 Men’s Health Week is one way to break these stigmas and provide an empathetic approach to improving chronic pain treatment.
Chronic pain sufferers now have a variety of treatment options to maximize relief – from acupuncture and topical treatments, to physical therapy and meditation, and neurotechnology wearables (like Quell).
How can Quell help?
Quell Wearable Pain Relief Technology is 100% drug and surgery-free—the slim lightweight design is comfortable and discreet enough to wear 24/7, providing an option for chronic pain, without the stigma.
Quell is designed to live with you. It can be worn during the day while you are active, and at night when sleeping.
Given that chronic pain affects each person differently, treatment methods need to be personalized to individuals as well.
